Biography

I grew up in Ponsonby and Grey Lynn, Auckland Central (before flat whites existed) and have been interested in art since childhood.

I have travelled to the UK and Australia though remain an Auckland based artist and designer.

I work predominantly with spray paint but am a versatile artist and highly skilled with most art mediums, this means I am able to pick up and run with almost any proposed project.

In 1991 I was introduced to the world of graffiti, which has shaped my views and ideas about art, advertising, and society. I got into graffiti in the 90s then by 2000 I had become an established figure in the New Zealand graffiti art scene, which gave me many opportunities to develop my practice further.

Originally coming from a DIY self-taught school of thought, In 2006 I enrolled at Elam School of Fine Arts. Here I expanded my knowledge and understanding of the art world, I became more open-minded to other aspects of art and artmaking as well as gaining a better understanding of my own work.

After being part of many group exhibitions over the years alongside local and international artists, I produced my first solo art show, “Last Gasp”, at Ninety Gallery, where I showed a great body of work. I also worked intensively on developing and promoting the show. The exhibition was a huge success with a large turnout on the opening night. It sold well and had a good review in the Australian online magazine Invurt.com. My second solo art show titled “Just Because” at Carwash gallery was more refined and even more successful than the first, having a near sell-out show.

I paint murals full time as a living, often for clients with a brief but also paint my own personal self-directed artwork all over the country and abroad.

I have a real passion and enjoyment for my work and with my drive and the extensive knowledge of art and design I have gained, I intend to continue to paint and get my work as far and as wide as I can.
